About Us
Around the 1900s, Judi's grandparents immigrated to America, the land of opportunity. Her parents, Peter and Grace Maculan, opened Miss Rockford Diner. In 1963 Peter and Grace established their first Peter Piper Pancake House Restaurant in Milwaukee which eventually grew into a chain of 14 restaurants across the state.
Judi, coming from an Italian family, worked in her family's restaurants since she took her first steps and in 1983 she opened her own Peter Piper Pancake House in Port Washington. Emmanuel was raised on his family farm on the Greek island of Crete. In 1988, at 23 years old, he arrived in Wisconsin and began his restaurant career. Both come from cultures where gathering around the table is not only to satisfy the appetite, but to create and maintain bonds.
In July 2001 Emmanuel and Judi opened their first restaurant together, Judi's Place, in Sheboygan County. In 2011, they opened their newest restaurant in Cedarburg and in the spirit of the original franchise and in remembrance of Judi’s father, Peter John Maculan, they aptly named it PJ Piper Pancake House.
