Description
Over 165 plein air artists roam our charming city capturing favorite historical structures, coffee shops and the picturesque countryside. Artists from all over work with oils, watercolors, pastels and more. Paint Cedarburg is nationally recognized as the largest gathering of artists in Wisconsin. Artists leave the comforts of their studios and spend 7 days painting outside…rain or shine. The public is encouraged to interact with the artists as they paint or simply marvel at their creativity.
Plein Air, a French term meaning “in the open air,” describes art works painted outside with the subject directly in view rather than in a studio. Plein air artists capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color, and movement into their works. Artists flock to Cedarburg to capture the beauty of this historic town and rolling, farm-specked countryside. Art enthusiasts can enjoy an opportunity to spend time with the artist as they work.
