Job Overview
The Home Equity Lending Specialist is responsible for originating, processing, and closing Home Equity Lines of Credit (HELOCs) and home equity loans. As a subject matter expert, you will deliver an exceptional member experience, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide loans from application through funding. This role also focuses on identifying opportunities to help members leverage their home equity to meet their financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Member Consultation and Relationship Building Guide members through HELOC and home equity loan options, helping them choose solutions that align with their financial goals. Build strong, trust-based relationships and identify opportunities to connect members with additional products and services.
- Loan Origination and Processing Ensure all applications are accurate, complete, and compliant with federal and state regulations and credit union policies. Coordinate loan disbursements and maintain thorough, organized documentation throughout the process.
- Business Development and Portfolio Growth Support loan growth by following up on inquiries, engaging in outbound and inbound communication, and leveraging referrals and member data to identify opportunities. Partner with Mortgage Loan Originators to strengthen and expand lending portfolios.
- Compliance and Collaboration Adhere to all regulatory requirements and internal policies. Collaborate across departments to ensure a seamless member experience and provide guidance or training to team members as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in finance, business, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in lending, financial services, sales, or a related role
- Ability to obtain NMLS registration, Wisconsin Notary, and E-Notary licenses
- Working knowledge of consumer lending, underwriting, and applicable regulations
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
