Join the Grafton Historical Society and learn about these German POW camps. Lucy Sanna, novelist and science writer, who will tell the fascinating story of a time when thousands of German POW’s were brought to Wisconsin, including – many in Ozaukee County. The U.S. military needed a useful and safe way to intern POW’s and Wisconsin needed workers. Lucy Sanna, author of both fiction and nonfiction, lives in Madison, WI. Her debut novel, THE CHERRY HARVEST (HarperCollins Publishers, 2015) reveals a hidden side of World War II's home front, when German POWs are put to work on a Door County cherry orchard… with dark and unexpected consequences. THE CHERRY HARVEST was chosen as a Book Club Pick by the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association, and as the Book Club Pick of the Summer by the Wisconsin State Journal.
