Join Captain Lindsay Graycarek of the Mequon Police Department as she shares her experience, knowledge, and practical strategies for effectively navigating challenging interactions.

This interactive training will provide participants with tools and approaches to help recognize escalating situations, communicate effectively, and respond with greater confidence and understanding.

Understanding de-escalation, its purpose, and its goals.

2. Communication
Strategies for effective communication during challenging interactions.

3. Non-Verbal Communication
Recognizing how body language, tone, posture, and other non-verbal cues influence interactions.

Building connection and using engagement strategies to support positive outcomes.

5. Responding to Disorders
Understanding approaches for responding to individuals experiencing behavioral or mental health-related disorders.

Captain Lindsay Graycarek is currently the Special Operation Captain with the City of Mequon Police Department. Captain Graycarek has been with the City of Mequon Police Department since November of 2002 and has been a Captain since July of 2026. Lindsay has held the position(s) of Patrol Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Administrative Sergeant, Field Training Officer (FTO), Field Training Supervisor, Detective, Crisis Negotiator (2006-2020) with the Ozaukee County Special Response Team, as well as the Critical Incident Debrief and Peer Support Lead.

Lindsay completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 2002, completed coursework in 2018 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to become a Certified Public Manager (CPM), graduated from Concordia University-Mequon in December of 2021 with an MBA in Public Administration and most recently is a Trilogy graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Leadership Program. Lindsay is a member of the NAMI Ozaukee CIT Coordinating Committee and has been actively involved in mental health training for law enforcement since 2016. In June of 2023, Captain Lindsay Graycarek was named NAMI’s, State of Wisconsin, Officer of the Year.
